The Miracle Morning | 30 Day Recap

Happy Friday Friends!

I am so excited to share with you how my Miracle Morning has been going. If you are new here, you may not know, but about a month ago, a fellow blogger asked me to take part in this 30-day challenge, and I said yes! I had been wanting to start my days earlier anyway, so this was the perfect motivation to do so!

Now that we’re at the end of the 30 days, it’s time to do a recap and share my thoughts, tips, tricks, and my final results. So, here we go!

Week 1:

I woke up early everyday this week- except for my weekend day to sleep in, and I still got up at 6:30am- about a half hour before everyone else. I really enjoyed that first week, and I think the novelty was still there. I also had a really positive outlook before bed, about getting up early the next morning. I did struggle to get to bed at a decent time, and I found by the end of this first week, I was literally exhausted! I did every part of the six savers (silence, affirmations, visualizations, exercise, reading and scribing) that first week, except for scribing. I could never find the time to fit it into my morning.

Week 2:
We were swimming right along in week two. I didn’t have issues getting up, and was excited about getting my days started early, and the way it made the rest of my day unfold. I was still struggling with going to bed early, and fitting all six of the savers into my morning before everyone was up and needing me.

Week 3:
I don’t know what happened, but the beginning of week three for me, when things are supposed to start feeling more natural, was a really difficult time. I think because the weather was cold- you will NOT find me excited to get out of my warm bed into a cold house. That being said, once I was out of bed, it was easier to stay awake. I also was starting to lose some of the savers during these mornings and starting to focus on what I wanted to get done.

Week 4:

I started to get my act back together this week, somewhat. I still had a really hard time getting to bed early, and in turn, waking up early. The savers were starting to get lost in the mornings. I would try to fit them in here and there as I remembered throughout my morning, but not nearly as regimented as my first couple of weeks. Towards the end of this week, I started tailoring the Miracle Morning more to my needs and less to the six savers.

So, as you can see… the plan started out great, but started to falter about mid-way. You guys, I could tell a difference IMMENSELY in how my day played out when not getting up early and getting my day started. That being said, during week three, I did have my monthly visitor, and I can’t determine if that was my main reason for being less patient and more tired.

Here are some things I found that made my Miracle Morning easier:

  • Set your alarm 5 minutes earlier than you want to get up, so you have some time to wake yourself up- stretch in bed, catch up on notifications in your phone, etc. This makes it less abrupt for me feeling like I need to jump straight out of bed, and also know I won’t lose time during my Miracle Morning.
  • As soon as you get up, drink a cold glass of water. I add a drop of lemon essential oil to mine to wake me up even more and help detoxify my organs to get the day started.
  • For the silence portion, sit on the floor, or a yoga mat. I sat on the couch, and especially during the first week, I found that I was struggling to stay awake. I found I like to inhale my Clarity essential oil to help with this portion, as well as getting into visualizations.
  • Go to bed with a positive outlook of getting up the next morning. Think of all you’re going to accomplish, and how great you’ll feel through the rest of the day. Going to bed dreading getting up, will make you dread getting up. 😉

My Miracle Morning going forward:

  1. I’m going to attempt to get up earlier- likely 5:15, maybe 5:00am. I’m finding that getting up at 5:30/5:45am is really not early enough. I’m usually still in the shower as my oldest is getting up. Before I know it, it’s time to leave for school.
  2. I have GOT to find a way to get to bed earlier. I am still getting to sleep around 11:30pm, which is why I think I am totally dragging by the end of the week. I’m not sure how I’m going to do this- but I’ve got to figure something out!
  3. I’m going to make time to eat breakfast with my hubby and do more of what I want to get done and enjoy. I had a hard time with visualizations and even affirmations. I am a huge believer in doing affirmations with the girls, but for myself, I struggled with what to say- how often to repeat- for how long. Maybe I need to brush up on how to do affirmations, before I write them off!

So, here’s what I think my new schedule is going to look like:

Mondays & Fridays

5:15am- alarm goes off

5:20am- out of bed, dressed, teeth brushed, face washed

5:25am- downstairs for 2-3 min of S.ilence

5:30am- light breakfast + R.eading or S.cribing

5:45am- drive to Barre Class + A.ffirmations

6:00-7:00am- E.xercise

7:10am- shower + V.isulizations

7:25am- get dressed and ready for the day

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays

5:15am- alarm goes off

5:20am- out of bed, dressed, teeth brushed, face washed

5:25am- 2-3 min of S.ilence

5:30am- R.eading

5:45am- E.xercise & A.ffirmations

6:10am- shower & V.isulizations

6:20am- S.cribing

6:45am- breakfast with hubby

6:55am- get dressed and ready for the day

7:15am- kiddos are up for the day

So, if you’re wondering, what I do for each of these activities, let me share:

S.ilence: I really enjoy spending 2-3 minute for this portion. I do deep breathing exercises and think about things I am grateful for.

A.ffirmations: I need to find an actual way to do this, but right now I say aloud the things that I aspire to be.

V.isulizations: I see, in my head, what I want to happen- usually this is where a lot of goal setting happens, and I visualize and feel what it would feel like when I reach those goals.

E.xercise: On Monday & Wednesdays I go to Pure Barre, on Tuesdays and Thursdays I try to get outside for a walk/run and on Wednesdays, I do yoga at home.

R.eading: I typically read for business or personal pleasure. This has been great because I used to read a lot, and haven’t really made time for it until now.

S.cribing: This time is actually meant for journaling. Some people use a gratitude journal, others take notes on good ideas or inspiration from their time R.eading. I thought I would do the latter, but I find myself craving work time during the early morning hours. So, I will likely spend this time working on blog posts.

I hope this has helped some of you and inspired you to start your Miracle Morning!
