Pallet Herb Garden DIY

This pallet herb garden project had been on my list for awhile. I kept getting hung up on the pallet part.

Back home in PA, pallets were plentiful, or maybe I just knew where to look for them. Here in NC, I rarely see them in business parking lots. However, my sweet hubby saw one one day and picked it up for me.

It sat outside for awhile because we were in the midst of newbabydom. Once we got around to transforming it into an herb garden, we realized that it wasn’t going to work. K was going to have to basically rebuild it to make it fit the plants the way that we wanted.

So, true to form, he picked up some 1x4s and made one tailored to our exact wants and needs.

Materials List:

(2) vertical 2x4s cut to 48″ – these are the outside pieces

(1) vertical 1×4 cut to 48″ – this is the middle divider

(8) horizontal 1x4s cut to 42″ – these are the fronts and backs for the four sections

(8) 1x4s cut to 19 1/8″- these are the bottom pieces for each of the 8 “boxes”

Directions:

After assembling the “pallet” cut three medium-sized drainage holes in the bottom of each box. Place a piece of garden cloth on the bottom to stop soil from dripping through the holes. Fill with garden soil and your herbs of choice.
