We’re moving… AGAIN!

If y’all saw my post on IG over the weekend… you know we’re in the middle of building a house. I know, right- SURPRISE! We’ve been looking since the spring and finally decided on a production home in a neighborhood that the kids will love. We will get to keep the neighborhood pool and playground and walking trails and we’ll gain a clubhouse, lake access and a dog park… also bocce ball apparently… whatever that is, ha!

We would have loved to have gone the total custom route, and we were halfway down that path, but that wouldn’t allow us to provide a neighborhood atmosphere that we wanted our girls to grown up in. So, that means taking a “cookie cutter” home and making it feel special by adding custom details, which I tend to think hubby and I are pretty awesome at! Of course, that means lots of fun (and sometimes stressful) things to tackle!

We always get so many compliments on our home, but I always feel like I’m missing the mark on the look I’m really going for… if I could describe my favorite home aesthetic… I guess I would call it, “Modern Farmhouse Chic”? Kind of a weird combination of words, right?! Anyway… I will bringing you along for the ride as we design each room and see this house come to life (quite quickly I might add… like as in Mid February… yikes!).

Here is what we’re working with so far…

There ya have it!!! Those are all of the options we chose in the design center. I have to say, DR HORTON’s options were a bit limited as far as on trend selections goes. We looked at some other builders that had way better options to choose from… but I don’t think we did too bad with what we had to work with!!

We will likely be replacing the kitchen counter tops as well as swapping the black slate fireplace surround out with some pretty cararra tiles.

Let the home decor fun begin! Lighting for the first floor is coming up next 😉
